SwaddleMé Large Swaddle | Extended Comfort for Growing Babies

★★★★★4.8· thousands of reviews

Our SwaddleMe Large swaddle is designed for babies who've outgrown newborn sizes but still need the comfort of secure swaddling. Fitting infants 14-20 pounds, this swaddle features adjustable wing panels that accommodate longer arms and broader shoulders while maintaining the snug wrap that supports better sleep.

We built the SwaddleMe Large with the same safe sleep principles pediatricians recommend — arms stay securely at the sides, hips have healthy room to move, and the zipper opening makes nighttime changes simple. The extra length and adjustable fasteners mean your baby gets weeks or months of additional swaddling comfort during the transitional sleep stage.

Sizing and fit for growing babies

The SwaddleMe Large swaddle is engineered for babies in the 14-20 pound range who measure between 23 and 26 inches from head to toe. This size typically fits infants from approximately three to six months, though every baby grows at their own pace.

We recommend measuring your baby’s length and weight before ordering to ensure the best fit. The adjustable wing panels on the SwaddleMe Large provide about two inches of overlap flexibility, so you’ll get several weeks of use even as your little one grows. Parents transitioning from the Original SwaddleMe will notice the longer body and wider chest accommodate babies who’ve developed broader shoulders and longer torsos.

Safe sleep design and materials

Every SwaddleMe Large swaddle meets current American Academy of Pediatrics safe sleep recommendations. The design keeps your baby’s arms securely positioned while allowing healthy hip movement in a flexed, natural position that reduces the risk of hip dysplasia.

We use 100% cotton fabric for the body of the swaddle, providing breathability that helps regulate temperature throughout the night. The material is soft against newborn skin but durable enough to withstand repeated machine washing in warm water. We recommend tumble drying on low heat to maintain the fabric’s shape and the integrity of the hook-and-loop closures.

Styling

How to use the SwaddleMe Large

Place your baby on their back on the open swaddle with shoulders aligned just above the top edge of the fabric. The neck opening should sit comfortably around the base of the neck without covering the chin or face.

Pull one wing panel across your baby’s chest and secure the hook-and-loop fastener on the opposite side. Repeat with the second wing, overlapping the first to create a snug but not tight wrap. You should be able to fit two fingers between the swaddle and your baby’s chest. Zip the bottom closure from foot to chest or chest to foot depending on whether you’re swaddling for sleep or preparing for a diaper change.

Finally fits my growing baby
We loved the original SwaddleMe but our daughter outgrew it by 12 weeks. The Large size gave us another six weeks of swaddled sleep, which was a lifesaver during her four-month sleep regression. The extra length made all the difference.

Perfect for bigger babies
My son was in the 90th percentile for length and outgrew most swaddles way too fast. The SwaddleMe Large actually fit him well from 3-5 months. The adjustable wings are genius because I could customize the tightness as he grew.

Zipper makes night changes so easy
I can change my baby's diaper at 2am without taking off the whole swaddle. She barely wakes up, and we're both back to sleep in five minutes. This feature alone makes the SwaddleMe worth every penny.

Great quality, wish it came sooner
I wish I had known about the Large size earlier. We struggled with too-small swaddles for weeks before finding this. The fabric is soft and holds up to constant washing. Just size up sooner than you think you need to.

Helped extend swaddling for our daughter
Our pediatrician said we could keep swaddling as long as she wasn't rolling. The Large size fit her perfectly from 14 weeks until she started rolling at 18 weeks. Those extra weeks of good sleep were precious for our whole family.

Holds up to heavy use
We've washed our SwaddleMe Large at least 50 times and it still looks new. The velcro is still strong, the zipper works perfectly, and there's no pilling or fading. Best $17 we've spent on baby gear.

Good to know

Common questions about the SwaddleMe Large swaddle

The SwaddleMe Large is designed for babies 14-20 pounds and 23-26 inches long, while the Original fits 7-14 pounds and 19-23 inches. The Large has longer body length, wider chest panels, and extended wing straps to accommodate growing babies who've outgrown newborn sizes.

Both sizes feature the same two-way zipper, adjustable wings, and hip-healthy design. The Large simply provides more room for babies in the three-to-six-month range who still benefit from swaddling.

Most babies use the SwaddleMe Large from approximately three to six months, though this varies based on individual growth rates. You should stop swaddling when your baby shows signs of rolling from back to front, which typically happens between four and six months.

The weight limit is 20 pounds, but rolling ability is the primary factor determining when to transition out of swaddling. Once your baby can roll, we recommend switching to a sleep sack or wearable blanket that allows free arm movement.

Yes, the SwaddleMe Large meets American Academy of Pediatrics safe sleep guidelines when used correctly. Always place your swaddled baby on their back to sleep on a firm, flat surface with no loose bedding or soft objects in the crib.

The design keeps fabric away from your baby's face, allows healthy hip movement, and prevents overheating through breathable cotton construction. Discontinue use immediately if your baby shows any signs of rolling over.

If your newborn weighs 14 pounds or more and measures at least 23 inches, the SwaddleMe Large can work. However, some larger newborns still fit better in the Original size during the first few weeks because the Large may have excess fabric around the shoulders.

We recommend trying the Original first if your baby's length is under 23 inches, even if their weight is in the Large range. The fit around the chest and shoulders is more important than weight alone for secure swaddling.

The swaddle should be snug enough to prevent your baby from wiggling out but loose enough to fit two or three fingers between the fabric and your baby's chest. You want security without restriction — the chest should expand normally with each breath.

The hip area should always be loose enough for your baby to bend their legs at the hips and knees. If you notice your baby's legs are straight and pressed together, loosen the bottom portion or size up.

In typical room temperatures (68-72°F), most babies wear a short-sleeve onesie or bodysuit under the SwaddleMe Large. The cotton swaddle provides one layer of warmth, so avoid overdressing to prevent overheating.

If your nursery runs cooler, add a long-sleeve onesie or lightweight sleeper. Check your baby's chest or back to assess temperature — it should feel warm but not hot or sweaty. Hands and feet are poor temperature indicators because they're naturally cooler.

Yes, you can tumble dry the SwaddleMe Large on low heat. We recommend low rather than high heat to maintain the fabric's softness and prevent shrinkage. The swaddle typically dries within 30-40 minutes on a low setting.

Always fasten the hook-and-loop closures before washing and drying to protect the fabric from snags. Line drying is also an option if you prefer to avoid heat altogether, though it takes several hours for the cotton to fully air dry.
