SwaddleMe Easy Change Swaddle – Diaper Changes Without Unwrapping
We designed the SwaddleMe Easy Change Swaddle to solve the problem every new parent knows: diaper changes that wake a sleeping baby. Our patented bottom zipper opens from the feet up, letting you change diapers without removing the swaddle or disturbing those secure arm wraps.
This swaddle uses the same adjustable wing design that made SwaddleMe a trusted name, with soft 100% cotton fabric and hook-and-loop closures that adapt as your baby grows. The Easy Change design keeps your little one snug and calm through every nighttime change, so you both get back to sleep faster.
Design & convenience details

How the Easy Change Zipper Works
The SwaddleMe Easy Change Swaddle features a two-way zipper that runs from the bottom leg pouch upward, stopping just before the chest area. When it’s time for a diaper change, you simply unzip from the feet while your baby’s arms stay wrapped.
This means the swaddle’s most important feature — those secure arm wraps that calm the startle reflex — never gets disturbed. Your baby stays in that cozy, womb-like position while you handle the diaper, then you zip back up and everyone goes back to sleep. Parents tell us this cuts nighttime change time in half compared to traditional swaddles.

Adjustable Fit for Growing Newborns
Wing Wraps That Adapt
Our signature adjustable wings use secure hook-and-loop closures that you can tighten or loosen as your baby grows from 7 to 14 pounds. The overlap design ensures a snug fit even for smaller newborns, while still leaving room to adjust for growth spurts.
Many parents transition from the SwaddleMe Original Swaddle to this Easy Change version once nighttime diaper changes become more frequent. Both use the same trusted wing system, so your baby gets consistent swaddling security while you gain the convenience of quick changes.
Fabric & Care Instructions
We make the SwaddleMe Easy Change Swaddle from 100% cotton because newborn skin needs breathable, soft fabric free from synthetic materials. The cotton is pre-washed during manufacturing to minimize shrinkage, so the fit stays consistent through dozens of wash cycles.
Machine wash cold with like colors and tumble dry low. We recommend washing before first use to soften the fabric further. Avoid fabric softeners, which can reduce the grip of the hook-and-loop closures over time. The zipper should be fully closed during washing to prevent snagging.

Common Questions About the Easy Change Swaddle
The bottom zipper opens from the feet upward, giving you full access to the diaper area while your baby's arms stay securely wrapped. You never need to undo the wing closures or disturb the upper body swaddle during changes.
This design keeps your baby calm during nighttime changes because the arm wraps — the part that soothes the startle reflex — remain in place. Simply unzip, change the diaper, and zip back up. Most parents report their babies fall back asleep much faster with this method.
This swaddle is designed for babies weighing 7 to 14 pounds, which typically covers newborn through 3 months of age. The adjustable wing wraps allow you to customize the fit as your baby grows within that weight range.
If your newborn is under 7 pounds, start with our Newborn size swaddles for a more compact fit. Once your baby exceeds 14 pounds or begins showing signs of rolling over, transition to a sleep sack or stop swaddling per safe sleep guidelines.
Yes, the 100% cotton fabric is breathable enough for most nursery temperatures. In warmer rooms (above 72°F), dress your baby in just a diaper or light short-sleeve onesie underneath the swaddle to prevent overheating.
Watch for signs your baby is too warm: sweating, flushed cheeks, damp hair, or rapid breathing. If your nursery consistently runs hot, consider our Muslin Swaddle option which offers even more breathability while maintaining the same Easy Change zipper design.
The swaddle should be snug around your baby's arms and chest but loose around the hips and legs. You should be able to fit two to three fingers between the fabric and your baby's chest — tight enough to prevent the arms from breaking free, but not restrictive.
The leg pouch should allow your baby's legs to bend up and out at the hips in a natural frog position. Never force the legs straight. If the hook-and-loop wings overlap significantly, the fit is correct. If there's a gap or you're using the very edge of the fasteners, your baby may be outgrowing the swaddle.
Yes, machine wash cold with like colors and tumble dry on low heat. Close the zipper fully before washing to prevent snagging other items in the load. Wash before first use to soften the cotton further.
Avoid using fabric softener, bleach, or harsh detergents, as these can break down the hook-and-loop closures over time. The cotton fabric becomes softer with each wash while maintaining its shape and durability through dozens of cycles.
Stop swaddling immediately when your baby shows any signs of rolling over, even if they haven't reached the 14-pound weight limit yet. Rolling typically begins between 2 and 4 months of age, though some babies develop this skill earlier.
Once rolling starts, swaddled arms create a safety risk because your baby can't use their hands to reposition if they roll onto their stomach. Transition to our SwaddleMe Transitions Sleep Sack or Arms Free Swaddle, which allow arm movement while still providing comfort around the torso.
Both swaddles use the same adjustable wing design and secure hook-and-loop closures. The Easy Change version adds a bottom zipper that opens for diaper access without unwrapping your baby's arms.
The Original SwaddleMe requires you to undo the entire swaddle for diaper changes, which can fully wake your baby. The Easy Change swaddle is ideal for parents dealing with frequent nighttime changes or babies who wake easily when unwrapped. Both options work equally well for calming the startle reflex and promoting longer sleep stretches.
